Representative Myung Sub Shin delivered a message titled “Blessed are the meek” base on Matthew 5:5.

Rep. Shin preached that “I wish you to have a humble heart and to be filled with Holy Spirit.” and “In this year SLS will establish a new hospital and will do various things nationally and internationally. Even though the process won’t be easy and there may be stumbling blocks and hardships, I hope you always be humble and meek so that you will inherit the land.”

After the sermon, top 10 news of the year 2015 was shared. SLS also announced the plan for the year 2016.

After the service and presentation, Joseph Lee the representative of SLS international remarked, “I wish that we accomplish our goals with the grace of God which based upon the grace that God had given us last year.” He determined to be victorious only by grace.

Brother Min Hwan Park, who recently entered Junbuk Medical School and became SLS member newly, testified that “I am really thankful that God made my dream to be a medical man and senior members to give me precious advice. I will dedicate myself to studying to prepare medical mission without losing initial motive.”

Matt 8:5-13 let’s be the true medical man that can heal many with the faith base on Love

Saint Luke Society held Korea – China gathering in Seoul from Jan 24 to Jan 25, 2015.

Saint Luke Society of Korea shared the vision and strategies and development of medical missionary work. And Saint Luke Society of China shares vision and conditions of medical missionary work in China. It was very meaningful gathering to both countries, Korea shared know-hows about medical missionary works and hospital work and China delivered their development and passion.

On Jan 24th Shin, the representative of Saint Luke Society Korea delivered message based on Matthew 8:5~13 and preached that “We need to be the true medical men who have faith upon love like the centurion so that we can take care of many souls and cure them through medical treatment which is given by God. “ After the opening service, members introduced briefly, Saint Luke Society of Korea shared the vision and play in the detail presentation. Firstly, representative Shin remarked, “Our vision is to build the world without a pain. For this, we have seven specific strategies for this.

1. The gospel is to preach and this is base of all the ministries we do
2. To train Christian doctors
3. Medical Advances to treat patients
4. Establishing Bioethics
5. Holistic Therapy and Education
6. Conquer Disease for the world health
7. Be Specialist in certain medical field

He added, “You should prepare diligently when you are in Medical School so that you will be ready for your Medical Ministry later.”

On Jan 25, Xiao Li, the representative of Saint Luke Society China delivered the message at the closing service. She preached the message based on Timothy 1:12~16. She remarked, “It is totally the grace of God that we are here, everything is the grace from above. The fact that we can breathe and live, pray and listen to the Word of God and worship God, build up experiences in the hospital and learn, every single thing that we do is truly by the Grace of God.”

“We are lacking in many ways and we are not capable of change anything but in Christ, we can do everything, we have received the power to cure not only the physical disease but also the spiritual diseases. We are not worthy but by giving thanks to God we can come forward to God and I believe that we can be the precious ministers and serve.” she preached.

SLS successfully conclude the Korean Christian Medical Personnel Seminar Part I

The third seminar of ‘the Korean Christian Medical Personnel Seminar Part 1’ was held on June 13. This seminar consisted of a lecture on Islam and questionnaire session. In fact, the meeting was scheduled for two hours but the meeting concluded much later than expected as the audience was so passionate about asking questions on the subject that they are interested.

Rev. Hae-Seok Yoo (Representative of FIM Ministry) lectured on the subject ‘Past, Present and the future of the Muslims in Korea.’ He talked about the Muslims in Korea from the past to the future and lectured about the rapid growth of Islam in Europe and crisis and our way out of this. Yoo said, “Muslims in Korea started to enter from Silla Dynasty and they were settled among upper class from Goryeo Dynasty to Chosun Dynasty.

Muslims started growing from 1990’s through immigration, international marriage, and conversion. Due to low birth rate, aging and avoiding dangerous and demanding job of Korea, the growth of Islam population is axiomatic in near future. In Europe, the population of Muslims was about 7.2 million in 1970 and it became 53 million in 2007 and the number is still growing rapidly. Many of the church buildings have transformed into Islam temples. After Europe has Islamized, there are many social problems like terrorism, sexual abuse and violent crime, drugs and more. In order not to influence by this Islamic wave, Korean churches need to form a healthy, open-minded and transmission churches. After the lecture, they had a question and answer session. They shared strategy about an effective way of evangelizing Islamic countries and a successful case of Islamic mission.

Representative Shin shared his opinion after the meeting and said, “I realized that the issues on Islam are very urgent and Christian need to be very careful and be awakened. However, medical men should treat Muslims with love having an unbiased point of view. Korean Christian medical ministry should evangelize more diligently as Muslims in Korea is the good materials for evangelism.” Dr. Soo-Jung Lee shared, “For me, it was great opportunity to have interest in Islam and I now have a dream to evangelize the Muslims.”

The Third “Leadership Seminar of Korean Christian Medical Personnel” successfully finished.

SLS”s held another leadership seminar, which is part 2 of third “Leadership Seminar of Korean Christian Medical Personnel.” This seminar consisted of a lecture, Q&A session and the introduction of SLS. This session was scheduled for only two hours, but the meeting finished much later than expected due to the passion of the participants. It was similar when they had part 1 two weeks ago.

The lecturer, Elder Geon Oh Lee (Advisor at CCC Agape, Representative of Pyoung Taek Philanthropy Hospital) lectured on the subject “The Paradigm Shift of Medical Mission.” Lee shared a deep understanding of evangelism and mission and change of the perspectives from the past to the present and way to go in the future.

Elder Lee said, “Every saint shall avoid the Dualistic Thinking and worship God through living a mission-oriented life.” He emphasized that medical ministry itself can testify Jesus to the people and we need to approach with holistic way as medical professionals. Lee said, “The mission of the past only focused on foreigners evangelizing natives and it was one-directional and missionary oriented most of the time. As the information era has come, the way of the mission gets wider and multi-directional mission is happening.” The lecturer also explained that about the desirable future of the medical mission. He said about “Mission Field Centered Ministry”, “Coworker Mission” and “the cultivation of native leadership” and “early transfer” and “activation of team mission”, “Training of sending missionary.”

After the lecture, they shared about effective mission method without conflict in the hospital and successful cases. They had the introduction of SLS and shared their international networks which include USA, China, Europe and more. Medical services and research document ministry were also shared with the participants at that time.
